Expressions of Interest: the Yarrabah Arts & Cultural Precinct is seeking applicants/participants within the local community that would like to be considered for training in the Arts Industry.

Yarrabah Arts and Cultural Precinct will be conducting career development workshops from May through to September for any local community members that may be interested and wanting to develop a career in the Visual Arts Industry.

Limited  participants.

Workshop includes:

  • Arts Business Workshop * Identify Suitable Micro Business Training *Computer Training
  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Screen Printing
  • Print Making

Materials for these workshops are supplied by the Arts & Cultural Precinct under Council arts policy agreement.

Arts Business Workshops are in partnership with the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and UMI ARTS Limited.

Headspace Cairns Swim, Surf and Splash Party at Tobruk Pool – signed permission slips due 30th March

Hey Everyone

headspace Cairns is hosting a Swim, Surf & Splash Pool Party.

The event celebrates National Youth Week and headspace Cairns 5th Birthday.

So there are twice as many reasons to celebrate!!!

Come along and have a go on the wave rider, obstacle course or just swim and chill with friends.

Date:  2nd of April 2017

Time: 1pm – 5pm

Ages: 12-25 years old

Price: completely FREE!!

Transport:  10:30am from Yarrabah School: – Headspace also have a 55 seater bus to take those children who are interested in going and have filled out the bus permission form.

Permission slips and Waiver Forms:  

Young people under the age of 18 must submit a completed parent/guardian permission / Consent form (attached) and return to your school office by Thursday 30th March 2016.

Young people under the age of 18 will also need to have a signed waiver form from a parent or guardian to use the Flow Rider (attached).

Blue Card and Foster Care Systems Review – Update 5 – Blue Card Options Paper submissions close this Friday 31st March

The Queensland Family and Child Commission (QFCC) has released an options paper relating to the review of the blue card system. The options paper brings together the QFCC’s initial findings and the feedback received from stakeholders and the community identifying potential options for change.

The QFCC welcomes submissions in response to the options paper.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 31 March 2017. Details regarding how to lodge a submission are outlined in the options paper.

The first 5 years of a child’s life is the most important.  While at the Yarrabah Daycare Centre your children will gain many skills and become capable and confident learners.  Early Childhood Centres provide children the opportunity to learn and to interact with other children.  They are great experiences for all ages.

The Yarrabah Daycare Centre is a 42 place centre where 0- 5 year olds are educated using the early years framework. Children at the centre have access to technology and a variety of resources.  Educators help children prepare for life at school and help set the foundations.

This program is to encourage ALL mothers, young & old to participate in the ‘First 5 Forever’ Classes.

For those who attend all the ‘First 5 Forever’ classes, they will be entitled to place an entry into the draw for hamper.  Please note: To be in the draw, it is COMPULSORY that you attend ALL 5 classes.
