Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council will endeavors to keep the public informed. Public notices, alerts, community events, road closures, calls for submissions and any other important information that may impact our Community, local residents will be notified on the Council’s website and Facebook page –



Information released from the Department Local Government, Racing & Multicultural Affairs – 2020 election. Council will officially enter caretaker mode on the date ECQ issues the Notice of Election – Saturday
22 February 2020.

The Returning Officer (RO) appointed by the Electoral Commission is Mr Don O’Brien. Don has visited the community already and in the lead up to the election, will have an office in community (TBC). All enquiries regarding the election process must be referred to the RO for his attention and advice.

This election has a number of new pre-nomination tasks and compliance issues for candidates to consider. All prospective candidates and sitting councillors need to ensure the tasks are completed.
